Westlake vs Agoura

The Warriors (7-0) may not just be the best team in the state, they may be the best team in the country. They have no weaknesses. Great offense led by QB Nick Isham, RB Tavior Mowry and WR Nelson Spruce. Great defense with amazing depth and eight sophomores or juniors getting key playing time. They’re loaded. They won’t find too many problems in this game against Agoura. Agoura (2-5) finally stopped the bleeding. They had a five-game losing streak halted at Calabasas last week and look to pull off a gigantic upset to follow it up. Problem is, they just don’t have the talent and speed to matchup with Westlake. Gerard Poutier, who is the fourth leading total yardage gainer (1,607) in the Northern Division will have his hands full with an aggressive Warrior defense.

Prediction: Westlake 56 Agoura 10

Agoura vs Calabasas

Don’t look now, but the Coyotes have a realistic chance to with their third Marmonte League game and go over .500 for the season this week at home. Who would have thought that the team the league tried to kick out would do so much damage after going winless in league play for so many years? The (3-3) Coyotes are led by the impressive Sophomore back Tyson Jones. Agoura (1-5) comes in on a five-game losing streak. Gerard Poutier and company would like for nothing more than to halt that streak against Calabasas on Friday night. We’ve seen the team play up to its potential on defense against Thousand Oaks, but they will have to click on all cylinders if they want to win another game this season in the ultra-competitive Marmonte League. I will go with Agoura just because it feels weird to ever pick the Coyotes as a winner, but I will certainly be a believer in Larry Edwards and this team next year should they win.

Prediction: Agoura 21 Calabasas 17
