Alemany at Crespi

This is a huge Serra League matchup. Alemany comes in ranked 10th in the state on Maxpreps sitting pretty at 6-0, but haven’t been tested by any of the juggernaut programs in its own league yet. No. 28 Crespi is hungry for its first league win after losing a 31-28 heart-breaker to Bishop Amat. Alemany averages a 25 point margin in their games this year and come rested after a bye week. They are led by Jesse Sampson (45 tackles, 4 sacks) on defense and QB Vernon Adams on offense. Meanwhile, 5-2 Crespi has the most explosive offense in California. Kenny Stenhouse has set the school’s single game passing record twice this year. The current record stands at 484 yards, which he put up against a top-tier Vista Murrieta team. If that’s not enough, he also set the school record in touchdown passes with six against Taft two weeks ago. He’s able to do this because he has an amazing receiving core led by Devin Lucien, (37 catches, 780 yards, 12 TD) Chris Harper (33 catches, 459 yards) and the diminutive Michael Davison who is listed at 5″4′, but may even be shorter than that. He has uncanny quickness, Harper brings the leap ability, while Lucien is Mr. Everything – he can burn you, he can go up for a pass and he runs crisp routes. This should be a whale of a game. I have a feeling Jon Mack’s boys will rise to the occasion.

Prediction: Crespi 38 Alemany 31
