Servite at Edison

SERVITE at EDISON – It’s a rematch of last year’s CIF championship, which Servite (3-0) won in a defensive battle 16-6. Servite comes in with one of the best defense in the state, only giving up 14 points in three games. The defense is led by LB Matthew Inman. The key for the Friars is to be efficient. QB Cody Pittman has to go into Trent Dilfer mode – not make any mistakes and he’s done that so far this season. His yards and completion numbers don’t jump out at you, but one of his stats does – 76 % of his passes are completed. Edison (3-0) comes off a tough fight against Dana Hills. The Chargers rode their horse, RB Nicholas Masaniai, to victory. He’s averaging 115 yards a game this year, but hasn’t faced a defense like Servite’s. Friday will be the ultimate early season test for both teams, who may figure to see each other again later in the season.

Prediction: Servite 17 Edison 7
